They say beauty starts from within, and the proof is in the (chia) pudding.
Specifically, this blueberry chia pudding from Seattle-based recipe content creator Fiona Elizabeth. Every bite is packed with nutrients, like antioxidants and omega-3s, that help your skin stay plump, hydrated, and glowing.
Let’s take a peek at what the dynamic duo of chia seeds and blueberries brings to the table:
- Antioxidants: both chia seeds and blueberries are packed with these skin health heroes. In case you need a refresher on what they do: they help fight free radicals, which can contribute to premature aging, fine lines, and dullness.
- Fiber: a happy gut = happy skin. Both ingredients are good sources of fiber, which helps your digestion run smoothly and promotes a healthy gut microbiome by feeding the “good” bacteria. It also helps you feel fuller for longer.
- Extra hydration: chia seeds have hydrophilic powers, which basically means they’re really good at absorbing water (up to 10x their weight!) and can help you stay hydrated. And blueberries contain a high water content, making them an excellent choice for “eating your water.”
- Vitamin C: this vitamin is über important for collagen production. Collagen is the protein that helps keep our skin plump and youthful. Blueberries are little vitamin C powerhouses.
- Omega-3 fatty acids: chia seeds are chock-full of these inflammation-reducing superstars. These fatty acids also help keep skin hydrated and support a healthy skin barrier.
